Who needs an EPC?

Selling a home?

It's a legal requirement for any domestic dwelling being sold in the UK to have an in date energy performance certificate. Check your property has a certificate using the link below.

Renting a property?

Property being rented in the UK must have an in date energy performance certificate. The UK government is also consulting on raising the minimum EPC rating to C for rental properties.

Want to retrofit your home?

If you want to improve the energy efficiency of your home, it's essential you understand your property's current energy performance. An EPC can help recommend the most cost effective energy efficiency measures.

What is an energy performance certificate (EPC)?

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rates a building's energy efficiency and environmental impact on a scale from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient). It provides information on energy consumption, costs, and recommendations for improvements, helping owners, buyers, or tenants understand and enhance the property's energy performance.

As a level 3 domestic energy assessor, I'm fully trained and accredited to assess the energy performance of domestic properties. I can also help you understand the recommendations of your EPC and help understand how to plan your home's retrofit journey.

During the assessment I'll carefully collect data from your entire house, input this into software and generate your EPC. Each assessment requires a minimum of 1 hour and the certificate can be generated later on the same day.

Need a Legionella Risk Assessment?

UK landlords are legally required under Health and Safety Law to assess and control the risk of Legionella bacteria in rental properties. This is to protect tenants from Legionnaires’ disease, a potentially fatal form of pneumonia. A Legionella risk assessment ensures that water systems are safe, particularly in properties with stored or stagnant water, and helps landlords meet their duty of care obligations. Regular assessments reduce legal risks and promote tenant safety.

Legionella risk assessment are usually ordered at the same time as a domestic energy assessment.

Need to survey a flat or hard to access roof?

Using a drone to survey a roof significantly improves safety by eliminating the need for ladders and reducing the risk of falls. It also speeds up the process, capturing high-resolution images and video quickly without physical access. Drones can reach difficult areas with ease, providing fast, accurate data while keeping surveyors safely on the ground.

Need a retrofit assessment?

A retrofit assessment is a detailed evaluation of an existing building to determine its suitability for energy efficiency improvements such as those recommended by the EPC. It examines the building’s structure, materials, energy systems, and thermal performance, occupancy and ventilation identifying issues like heat loss or dampness. The assessment guides sustainable upgrades while maintaining structural integrity and occupant comfort.

Retrofit assessments have been designed to allow retrofit projects to adhere to the recommendations in PAS 2035, the UK’s overarching standard for managing domestic energy efficiency retrofit projects.

Each assessment requires a minimum of 3-4 hours and includes questions designed to understand how the occupants of a dwelling consume energy, allowing the assessment to more carefully design energy efficiency recommendations.

Prices vary depending on the size of your property, starting from £49. The fastest way to get a quote is to provide your address and the number of bedrooms it has.
